We Wrapped the Feature Film. Now What?
We wrapped. Those two words carry more weight than I can fully explain right now. After months of pre-production, casting, location scouting, shooting, and the long grind of post — we wrapped my first independent feature film under Denne Productions.
The journey from page to screen was unlike anything I've experienced before. Writing a play and directing it is one thing. Writing a screenplay and then actually producing it — raising the money, assembling the crew, managing the shoot day by day — is a completely different animal. And I mean that in the best possible way.
What Pre-Production Actually Taught Me
Pre-production is where the film is really made. By the time you're on set, every decision you didn't make in prep becomes a problem you're solving under pressure. I learned that the hard way — and I'm grateful I did. The discipline of locking a shot list, trusting your department heads, and knowing when to let go of a perfect idea in favor of a workable one — that's the real education.
I also learned that the people you surround yourself with define the project. The crew we assembled was extraordinary. Every single person showed up with intention, with craft, and with a belief in the story we were telling. That energy is irreplaceable.
The Shoot
There's something sacred about a film set when everything is clicking. The camera is rolling, the actors are alive in the scene, and the story you've been carrying in your head for years is finally breathing in the real world. Those moments made every difficult day worth it.
And there were difficult days. That's the truth of independent filmmaking. You're working with limited resources, compressed schedules, and the constant pressure of making every dollar count. But constraints breed creativity. Some of the best decisions we made on this film came out of necessity — and they made the film better.
Now What?
Post-production is its own journey. The edit is where the film finds its final shape — where you discover what you actually made versus what you thought you were making. I'm deep in that process now, and it's humbling and exciting in equal measure.
The plan is to take this film to festivals. To put it in front of audiences and let it live in the world the way stories are meant to. More details coming soon. Stay tuned to this space and to @YOUNGANDTHERESTOFUS on YouTube for updates.

To everyone who believed in this project, who gave their time and talent and trust — thank you. This film exists because of you. We did the damn thing.
